Hiking the Te Araroa Part 5: Reflections on the hike

    1. hi thierry,
personally i’d cherry-pick but other hikers doing the whole thing might judge you as less of a hiker!! (the te araroa can be quite sporty/competitive!!)

but having said that, it must be really satisfying to complete the whole trail, (but you’ll walk hundreds of kilometres on the road!)

you could start the TA and see how you feel: you can decide what feels right for you when you’re doing it.

but i personally would concentrate more on the beautiful hikes of aspiring national park, aoraki area and fiordland area. they’re not on the Te Araroa and are the best parts of NZ.
