      It’s quite a long time ago, so I can’t remember how we navigated around. I don’t think we had a good map with us, though. We used this site for more information https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e7900.html

      You should download the OsmAnd app on your phone and turn on the hiking routes button. I probably used OsmAnd as my map (because I use it for all hikes!)

      I also recommend that you go to Hokkaido for hiking (I wrote about that, too). There you can get some amazing paper maps.
